Anything can be adapted to work in TW the problem will be, if the adapted setting remains true to itself or the game to the franchise. But the 40k universe isn't exactly like modern warfare, there are melee infantry units, giant monsters, artillery, all too similar to the fantasy TW battle, granted their ranged units, which also exist in fantasy, probably wouldn't behave like traditional warfare ranged units, which is a problem, but could it be adapted to work in the TW setting? Could it be possible?
